Amish Tripathi Says Ranveer Singh Has Not Acquired Rights to The Immortals of Meluha

Amish Tripathi has set the record straight on reports suggesting that Ranveer Singh has purchased the rights to produce The Immortals of Meluha.

The popular author, who is renowned for his Shiva Trilogy, which has been speculated to be an ideal candidate for a movie adaptation, explained that the rights to the trilogy still belong to him, and there is no deal signed by any producer or actor.

While speaking from London, Tripathi praised Ranveer Singh, calling him one of the best actors in India. Nevertheless, he stated that the rumors surrounding the acquisition of the rights by the actor under his production firm are baseless.

The cinematic version of the Shiva Trilogy, a novel by Vishwaroopam Tripathi, which presents Lord Shiva as a character from real history and has become the best-selling mythological fiction series in India, has been talked about for well over a decade now.

Although there have been many talks and even declarations over the years of various Bollywood celebrities producing or directing the film, it seems like nothing will come out of those conversations as none of them ever saw the light of day. According to Tripathi, although there were many attempts at securing the rights for all of his books, the film rights to each of them have returned back to him.

Commenting on this topic, the author admitted that he believes that his stories will soon see the big screen as their time will eventually come. As Tripathi puts it, an adaptation of his mythological universe will only be done when “Lord Shiva and the Mother Goddess will it.”

First published in 2010, "The Immortals of Meluha" presented readers with a new angle on the ancient myths of India and began a trilogy that marked a significant event in modern Indian literature.

Until any official announcement regarding a deal, the highly awaited film based on the Shiva Trilogy will continue its development phase, with the movie rights still resting with Amish Tripathi.
